The USDA and Forest Service have announced the Community Forest and Open Space Program. This program authorizes the Forest Service to provide financial assistance to local governments, Tribal governments, and qualified nonprofit entities to establish community forests that provide continuing and accessible community benefits. Native American Tribal governments and local governments are eligible. The application deadline for this program is May 15, 2012.
